Magnificent from the outside, this vast theatre has a huge capacity of 2,069, making it one of the biggest in the West End and perfect for lavish, extravagant musicals. The building was constructed in 1928 and converted into cinema in 1930, to meet demand for the new ‘talkies’. In the 1980s it became a popular concert and gig venue, with stars like Dolly Parton and Tangerine Dream taking the stage. And in recent years its amazing rehearsal studio has housed auditions and rehearsals for top shows like We Will Rock You, Edward Scissorhands, Les Misérables and Cats. Recent smash hits at the Dominion include Swan Lake, Tango Passion, Notre-Dame de Paris, Grease and Ben Elton’s huge hit We Will Rock You. Oddly, in 2005 the Hillsong Church started holding church services at the venue on Sundays, so it’s a real multi-purpose place. Want Dominion theatre tickets?
